Cat refuses to drink water

I noticed that my cat drinks very little water and I'm afraid that this may have a bad effect on his health. The water bowl is always clean, but he ignores it. Are there any tricks to get my cat to drink more? Maybe I should change the type of bowl or the water?

My cat has always been a water drinker, and it scared me a little. I tried different bowls: plastic, ceramic, even special ones with filters, but she still ignored the water. Then I bought an automatic pet water fountain, and the result was immediate. I noticed that it also helped reduce the cat's stress level, since she didn't have to look for water.
